WHO
WE ARE
Special Olympics transforms lives through the joy of sport, every day, everywhere. Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organisation for people with intellectual disabilities with 5.5 million athletes in 193 countries.
Here in Cayman, we are serving 175 athletes and 20 Unified Partners with the help of more than 300 dedicated coaches and volunteers.
Our
mission.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Special Olympics Cayman Islands (SOCI) was founded in 1988, and is run by a committee of volunteers who ensure that Cayman's more than 170 active athletes achieve their shared goal - to express a love of life through sports.
